Tip Log
How do I log a shift?
Tap Clock In when you start working and Clock Out when you finish, then enter your cash tips, card tips, any tip share received from a tip pool and any tip out paid to bussers, the bar or the kitchen. You can also add a shift later with +, or turn off Worked hours to log tips only (for example for deliveries or events).
Can I use it without opening the app?
Yes. While you're on the clock, a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island shows the time, with a Clock Out button. Add the Earnings widget to your Home Screen or Lock Screen to see this week's earnings and clock in. With Siri, say “Log tips in Tip Log”, “Clock in with Tip Log” or “How much did I make this week in Tip Log”. If the Live Activity doesn't appear, open the Settings app → Tip Log and turn on Live Activities.
What is “No Tax on Tips”?
A US federal income tax deduction for tax years 2025 through 2028. Workers in an occupation on the Treasury's list of tipped occupations can deduct up to $25,000 a year of voluntary tips (cash, card and tip sharing). Mandatory service charges and auto-gratuities don't count. The deduction shrinks above $150,000 of income ($300,000 for joint returns), married couples filing separately can't take it, and Social Security and Medicare taxes still apply. Pick your occupation in Settings → Jobs; the Taxes tab shows your qualified tips this year and the estimated deduction.
How is the overtime deduction estimated?
For employees, hours over 40 in a workweek at one job count as overtime (FLSA). The deduction covers only the extra half of “time and a half”, up to $12,500 ($25,000 for joint returns), for 2025 through 2028. Set the first day of your pay week in Settings → Week and the overtime regular rate in each job. For tipped jobs that rate is usually the full minimum wage, not your cash wage. Overtime required only by state law doesn't count.
Do I need to report tips to my employer?
In the US, employees report each month's tips to their employer by the 10th of the next month when they're $20 or more at a job. Open Taxes → Monthly Tip Statements to see the total, share a PDF statement (Pro) and mark the month as reported. Turn on the reminder in Settings → Reminders.
Are the numbers official?
No. Tip Log gives estimates for your records, not tax advice. Official amounts come from your W-2, 1099 and pay stubs; ask a tax professional about your situation.
How do I send my records to my accountant?
Go to Taxes (or Reports outside the US), choose the period and tap Daily Tip Record (PDF) or Export CSV (Pro). The CSV opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.
Where is my data stored? How do I move to a new device?
Everything stays on your device. With Pro, use Settings → Export Backup and save the file to iCloud Drive or Files. On the new device, choose Restore from Backup.
How do I restore or cancel my purchase?
To restore, tap Restore Purchases in Settings. To cancel a subscription, open the Settings app → your name → Subscriptions.
